Site Design Contest

Last week marked the beginning of our Second Annual Web Site Design Contest. If you or one of your customers has put together an impressive Web site, you could win free hosting and site promotion for a year, or a coveted spot as one of the sample sites on our Sample Sites section.

Between now and February 3rd, you will be able to submit your entry through the Administration Section of your Web site. After our Web experts have selected the 10 best sites, we turn the voting over to you and let you chose the winning site. Voting will be open from Monday, February 10th to Friday, February 14th, and the winners will be announced on Monday, February 17th. The contest is open to all existing site owners who have registered their own domain name (e.g. www.yourcompanyname.com); sample sites or sites that have not been activated are not eligible for entry. If you have any questions regarding the contest, please call (866) WEB-HELP. We wish you the best of luck! And don't forget to tell your customers!!

Licensee Questions Continued

On last week's conference call we covered some of the questions that we are frequently asked by licensees--things like keeping prospects warm while waiting for a sales appointment, and doing design work on your client's site. This week we're going to finish up the list and give you a few more important tips like the most effective way to use the trial run for the Web sites, and suggestions for hot prospects who don't have a template that their business fits into. This call will be
available until we upload a new one on Thursday, January 16th, so be sure to dial in soon!

Here's a quote from Michael Jordan’s biography: " I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been trusted to take the game's winning shot...and missed. …I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why... I succeed."

Failure is an intrinsic part of success. Mistakes provide you with valuable experience, so don't let the fear of failure keep you from succeeding.

The Customer Care team is committed to providing you with expert assistance in a timely manner. Your satisfaction is very important to us, so we are constantly evaluating our performance and looking for new ways to improve. An important statistic that we use to gauge our performance is the length of time customers spend on hold when they call in to Customer Care. Our goal is to answer each call within 45 seconds, and during this past month, 67% of all of in-bound calls were kept waiting less than 45 seconds.

Customer Care's busiest hours are between 8am and 1:30pm Pacific Standard Time, so if you are calling during this period, you may experience a slightly longer hold time. If your question requires an immediate response, and if you are unable to call outside of these hours, you can save time by using the Interactive Chat tool. This feature allows users to communicate with one of our Customer Care representatives, in real time, through instant messaging software. So far, we have received an overwhelmingly positive response from customers who have used the Interactive Chat tool; please try it out and let us know what you think. If you have any additional questions, please contact Customer Care Monday through Friday 7am to 7pm PST at (866) 932-4357.

Site Search Tool

Many people spend considerable time designing their Web site but all too often, style takes precedence over usability. Most of the people visiting your site are there for a specific reason, and they may not feel like looking through the entire site for what they want. By using the Site Search Engine feature in our software, you can provide your customers with a quick and easy way to navigate your site and find the information they want. The Site Search Engine works just like the search engines on Google or Excite: the user enters a few key words or descriptors, and the search engine will produce links to each occurrence of the word or phrase.

Before creating a search engine within your site, be sure to fix any broken links or images on the site with the Link Analysis Tool (covered in detail in the newsletter sent out on December 10th) otherwise, your site will not be indexed properly. From the Site Tools menu on your site, select "Search Engine Admin", and choose the URL you would like to submit. The first--and most important--step is to assign a weight to the different sections of your Web site. The weighting will allow the search engine you create to identify the most relevant elements of the page and rank the results accordingly. When you are assigning a weight to each section, remember: the lower the number, the higher the relevance. Listing an element as "1" tells the search engine to look at that portion first and identifies it as the most important area or section. Once you have finished, click on the "Submit" button, and your site will be indexed for the search engine.

In order for customers to use this tool, you will need to add a "Search Form" to a page in your Web site. In the Site Modifier, choose the page you want the search field added to, and click on the "Add Element" button at the bottom of the page. Select the "Form" element type, and in the drop down menu that asks what type of form you want to create, select the "Search Form" option. After naming the search form and positioning it on the page, your site will be set up with its own built-in search engine.

Remember, use the Link Analysis tool before setting up your site search engine. Also, it is important to note that this tool only works on sites that have been activated. If you have any additional questions or if you need help setting up the search engine, please contact Customer Care at (866) 932-4357.
